The ex-Special Adviser on Education to Osun State Governor, Mr Jamiu Olawumi, on Saturday urged people to be wary of footage circulating on social media showing voters participating in the local government poll in the state.
The claim was however countered by the Director of Media of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, Oladele Bamiji, who insisted that the exercise was largely successful across the state.
Olawumi, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in the state, while speaking on the poll in an exclusive chat with PUNCH Online, said the election was not held in any part of Ife Central LG and across the state.
He said, “At Ilare Ward 3, Ile-Ife, hoodlums blocked the road and they were successfully dislodged by the police. Unless they voted before daybreak because that was rampant.
“Unless they did the voting before dawn, there is no area in Ife Central where voting held. In Ife East, no untoward incident. The PDP is also using pseudo-films of past elections, putting them on social media.
“Where you see that, it has been films of previous elections. We commend the police for being professional.”
But Bamiji disagreed, insisting that the APC should bring out old films of voting from “several circulating in the social media.”
He added, “The election was held successfully across the state and we are expecting results from the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission.”
