    Police arrest three over deadly disturbances at Nsoatreman vs. Asante Kotoko match

    The Ghana Police Service has apprehended three individuals in connection with the violent disturbances that broke out during the football match between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC on 2nd February 2025 at Nsoatre in the Bono Region.

    The unrest tragically led to the death of one person.

    The arrested suspects have been identified as Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Agyemang Duah Owusu, and Kyeremeh Joseph. They are currently in police custody, where they are assisting with the ongoing investigation.

    A search of suspect Agyemang Duah Owusu’s residence uncovered two garments with suspected bloodstains, as well as an MP 23 pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition, further intensifying the investigation into the disturbances.

    The Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has reached out to express his condolences to the family of the deceased and the leadership of Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC. He assured them that the police are committed to a thorough investigation of the incident.

    A special team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters has been dispatched to support the Bono Regional Police Command in resolving the matter.
