Nations FC defender Razak Simpson says he was living his dream after earning his debut Black Stars call-up in November’s international window.
Simpson received a dream call-up for the games against Angola and Niger in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers this month.
His call-up was a reward for his consistency in the heart of defence for Nations who are currently top of the Ghana Premier League.
His immense defensive impact has seen Nations concede three goals, the fewest a club has let in this season.
His performances did not go unnoticed with Black Stars coach Otto Addo inviting him to the senior national team for the first time and he featured in both games.
Simpson put up a commanding performance on his debut against Angola before proceeding to put in a shift against Niger three days later.
“One day I was there, and I had a foreign call. I picked it up, and it was coach Otto Addo, and he told me Razak Simpson… initially I went to Black Galaxies training, and he came there to watch me, and he spoke to me and said I should be aware, but I don’t know what he was talking about, he told 3Sports.
“Razak Simpson, congratulations and everything, and he will be calling me at noon; the day he will announce it. After the call, I got down to my knees, prayed to God, and thanked God for everything. I said that my dream is finally true,” he added.
Simpson hopes to be in contention for a place in the 2025 squad when Ghana resume their 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
