Samospharma Limited and its subsidiaries categorically deny the false allegations in the BBC Africa Eye Investigations report regarding unlicensed opioid imports.
These claims are baseless and defamatory, and we suspect fraudulent use of our corporate identity and a clear case of criminal impersonation.
The BBC wrote to us alleging they had evidence of our trade in the mentioned opioids (Tapentadol/Carisoprodol) to which we responded and denied in no uncertain terms.
At no point did the BBC/BBC Africa Eye enter the offices/facilities of Samospharma to ascertain the veracity of their claims and this we find very scandalous and libelous.
We have never imported or traded in Tapentadol or Carisoprodol either individually or in combination.
We have always strived to be compliant with all industry standards and operate strictly within the Ghana Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), the Pharmacy Council and all other relevant stakeholder regulations and guidelines. We have on the basis of these false claims taken the actions below:
*Engaged legal counsel and issued a cease-and-desist order to BBC/BBC Africa Eye and their
partners.
*Filed formal complaints with FDA Ghana, CID-Ghana Police, and the Indian High
Commission to investigate potential impersonation.
*Prepared legal action against BBC/BBC Africa Eye and their collaborators for defamation.
*Cooperating fully with authorities to uncover the real offenders behind the illegal opioid trade.
Samospharma strongly condemns the illegal opioid trade and supports efforts to combat drug
abuse.
While we stand with victims, we vehemently object to our wrongful implication, which distracts from prosecuting the real perpetrators.
Demand for Retraction & Correction
We demand that BBC Africa Eye immediately retract and correct its misleading claims.
Samospharma and its subsidiaries remain unwavering in their commitment to distributing safe,
effective and high-quality medications.
We continue to uphold the highest ethical standards and safeguard the trust placed in us by the public and our partners
