Antoine Semenyo led Bournemouth’s dramatic 3-2 comeback win over Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.

The game had seemingly slipped out of the grasp of the Cherries, with Everton scoring twice in 7 minutes.

Michael Keane and Dominic Calvert-Lewis’ goals looked to seal a routine 2-0 victory for Everton until Semenyo happened.

Semenyo’s 87th minute strike halved the deficit for Bournemouth before Lewis Cook scored 2 minutes into stoppage time.

The points were sealed when Luis Sinisterra found the back of the net deep into stoppage time.

Everton‘s capitulation – giving a two-goal lead away as late as the 87th minute – is the first time a Premier League side have lost a game with so little left on the clock.

Meanwhile, Sean Dyche’s unwanted record of failing to secure a win as Everton manager in the month of August stretches to six games.

Semenyo maintains wonderful start to the season

Antoine Semenyo has scored two league goals and provided one assist across three league games; underpinning his importance to Bournemouth and Andoni Iraola.

Any jitters caused by Dominic Solanke’s departure before the commencement of the season have quickly evaporated with his breathtaking performances.

Semenyo has taken up the role of the team’s talisman and contributed immensely to Bournemouth thus far.

His performance at Goodison Park did not go unnoticed, with head coach Iraola full of praise for the Ghanaian.

“I think Ant, personally, assumed some leadership, some ball carrying, some ruthlessness,” he said.

Meanwhile, Semenyo’s goal meant, for the first time since January 21, 2023, the forward has been directly involved in three successive league goals (2 goals, 1 assist) — with the last of such feat coming at Bristol City in the Championship.

Semenyo is set to team up with the Black Stars for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, before returning to Bournemouth to take on Chelsea.
