Sky train scandal: Nana Akufo-Addo made unprecedented contributions to railway sector – Dr Stephen Amoah

Dr. Stephen Amoah, former Deputy Finance Minister, has praised former President Nana Akufo-Addo’s contributions to the development of the country’s railway sector.

He made the comments during a discussion on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, 1st March, following the National Investigations Bureau’s (NIB) probe into allegations of funds mismanagement related to the Sky Train project.

“The work done in the railway sector under Nana Akufo-Addo, in my opinion, is unprecedented,” he said.

He further added that while he commended the president for his efforts in the railway sector, it should not undermine the importance of the ongoing investigation. “That doesn’t mean the issues being raised shouldn’t receive the necessary attention that the NDC government is giving,” he explained.

He also argued that, as much as the sector is plagued with allegations of funds mismanagement, the positive contributions should not be overlooked.

“In our country, let us also develop the culture of letting people know the good things that we do so that people will be encouraged” he emphasised.

The investigation stems from concerns over the management of funds allocated to the Sky Train project, which has been mired in controversy.

Former Minister for Railway Development, Joe Ghartey, recently appeared before the NIB to answer questions regarding the project’s financial management.
