Stop creating Apps and focus on the economic challenges  – Concerned citizens tell government on 3FM Sunrise bus ride

It was a frank conversation among some concerned Ghanaians onboard the 3FM Mobile Sunrise Morning Show bus on Friday 1st November, 2024 as the passengers shared their opinions on some pertinent national issues.

One of such issues that was discussed in the newspaper review segment was the GoRide App, a locally developed ride-hailing app that was recently launched in Accra on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 by the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“This is about restoring dignity to our drivers and ensuring that they thrive. This initiative reflects our government’s unwavering dedication to supporting local businesses and driving growth by keeping the profit generated by GoRide” the Veep. Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, stated when he officially launched the app.

However, some of the passengers expressed their dissatisfaction with the introduction of the App, arguing that there are key fundamental economic issues such as; high cost of fuel and spare parts for vehicles alongside poor roads and street lighting that are also affecting road safety and security of commuters, and also increasing the cost of transportation that must be first addressed.

“The government should rather focus on tightening the bottlenecks of the already existing hailing Apps and improve the road conditions to enhance the safety and security of commuters,” one said.

Some commenters on the 3FM social media platforms mentioned that the most important Apps the country needs now are potholes identification App and cedi stabilization App.

Access to clean water, good roads, regular electricity supply and a safer and secured environment dominated the conversation on the 3FM Sunrise Morning Show bus ride.

The theme for the 3FM Mobile Sunrise Morning Show: ‘Real Stories, Real Opinions, Real People’ symbolizes the station’s resolve to drive healthy and worthy conversations about Ghana while championing peace and tolerance ahead of, during and after the December 7, General Elections.

Commuters were offered a free cozy ride from Oyarifa to the central business district of Accra whilst enjoying the live radio experience on the bus.
