It’s Day three of the registration and orientation of first year students in the senior high schools and TVET Institutions across the country.
3news’ Ebenezer Atiemo reports from the Western Region that some of the schools are now combining online admission and manual to enhance the process.
At Ghana Secondary Technical School, unlike Wednesday, October 30, when a large crowd was seen on on campus struggling to register their wards, the school has since adopted an innovative approach to streamline the registration process. Initially, challenges arose due to issues with the portal and index numbers.
Specifically, documents received only contained the first two and last two digits of students’ index numbers, causing difficulties.
However, the school has implemented a manual registration process where the students print out their results and the school assists with manual registration, collecting contact information. A link is sent later to complete the registration online.
Despite this progress, there’s still uncertainty regarding the reporting date for students but they have been given the prospectus
A parent who shared his positive experience with the registration process said “The registration was smooth. They collected our contact information and our child’s index number. We were informed that a link would be sent to complete the registration online. The school will also contact us later to confirm the reporting date for our child to start classes”.
Some key observation from this year’s registration process is that no monetary exchanges are taking place. And my little investigations reveal that Heads of schools have been instructed to minimize human contact, like the setting up of Parents Association desks for dues collection, have been eliminated.
And Some schools’ traditional requirements, like specific uniforms (e.g., checked fabric), are not allowed unless explicitly approved by the Regional Education Director. And the schools are strictly adhering to the directives of Education Ministry’s prospectus.
Overall, the registration process is proceeding smoothly.
