The Western Region Communications Department of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by Richard Kirk Mensah, has joined the advocacy to educate residents in the Sekondi Takoradi, especially the market women, on the wild spread of cholera within the metropolis.
As it stands now the death toll of the cholera victims has reached 15 with over 1500 cases recorded.
Richard Kirk Mensah is however urging them to take their safety precautions and take the vaccines by the health professionals to curb the spread of the disease.
“The cholera outbreak is escalating rapidly, and it’s crucial we all play our part in controlling its spread. The health services have introduced a vaccine, and I strongly encourage everyone here to get vaccinated. I’ve taken the vaccine myself, and I can attest to its safety. Let’s all take responsibility for our health and get vaccinated.”
“In addition to vaccination, we must maintain good hygiene practices. This includes keeping our surroundings clean, avoiding cold foods, and adopting regular handwashing techniques, just as we did during the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s also advisable to avoid buying food from outside vendors.” He stated.
The team also used the opportunity to express their gratitude to the market women in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis, visiting the following market centers: Sekondi Market, Kojokrom Market, Takoradi Jubilee Park, Abenbobom Market
Effia Night Market, This tour comes after the NDC’s historic victory in the region, marking a unique milestone.
Notably, the NDC has won three out of five seats in the metropolis, with Sekondi, Kwesimintsim, and Essikado-Ketan being the winning constituencies.
