Here’s Why DJ ZanD Believes 2017 Was A Great Year For SA Hip Hop. SA Rap culture has survived the test despite being declared dead due to amapiano’s supremacy. A spate of successful songs from the most well-known rappers, both new and old cats, helped Mzansi’s rap scene gain traction last year.

With all the success it has enjoyed over the past years, the prominent YFM Radio DJ and rapper DJ Zan-D believed that SA hip hop had the best year in 2017. The Ejardini chanter took to Twitter and shared a list of SA hip-hop songs that made 2017 a special year in the rap culture.

“2017 was a great year for SA Hip Hop: Cassper Nyovest – Thuto Shane Eagle – Yellow AKA & Anatii – BCWYWF Stogie T – Stogie T (album) OKMALUMKOOLKAT – Mlazi Milano,” tweeted Zan-D. The rapper also praised the work he did with Reason on the song Rigorous in the same year. “Dj Zan-D x Reason – Rigorous Also dropped in 2017,” he added in a tweet.

In the same thread of the tweet, the YFM radio DJ revealed that he enjoyed K.O’s SR2 album which was released in that same year. He recalled that K.O. had promised to release the music video for “Ghetto Episode,” and he felt it would have been fantastic if it had. “K.O. also dropped SR2 in 2017. I really enjoyed that album. He had promised to shoot a movie for “Ghetto Episode”. That would have been so dope,” he tweeted.

Rappers like AKA, Emtee, Sjava, and Blxckie are working nonstop to deliver new songs as soon as possible, thus SA Hip hop is expected to maintain the pace of last year.
