On Friday 20th January, MTN officially announced the winners of its Ayoba Momo Accelerator Awards at the MTN headquarters in Accra.
Five startups in total were given awards after going through eight weeks of competition.
With its Ayoba Momo Accelerator, MTN worked with various startup hubs, with various entrepreneurial businesses, ranging from agriculture, and entertainment to productivity, to help onboard them onto their Ayoba App. A total of 18 startups from all over the country participated in the accelerator competition.
Present at the awards ceremony was Dario Bianchi, Chief Digital Officer of MTN, who congratulated all the winners of the competition as well as the participants who took part.
Five winners were announced at the event. The award for “Top Tech App” went to Noni Hub who received a 50,000 GHC cash prize as well as a lifetime partnership with Ayoba.
Global Africa Radio was awarded “Most Liked” app for having the most likes on the Ayoba platform. The startup was given a cash prize of 20,000 GHC as well as a lifetime partnership with MTN Ayoba.
The best MoMo solution award given to ‘Tudu Online Shopping’, an e-commerce startup.
In the “Expert Choice” category, Smithfield Agribusiness was given the award away for the app with the best customer experience.
The final award for Top Influencer Award was given to “Demasko’.
Award winners were given cash prizes of 20,000 GHC and a lifetime partnership with Ayoba.
MTN stated that they plan to continue working with startups and hubs with its Ayoba platform and plans to introduce a revenue sharing plan for apps on the platform in the future.
