Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane made history with a four-goal haul in a 9-2 demolition of Dinamo Zagreb, becoming England’s top scorer in Champions League or European Cup history.
Kane surpassed Wayne Rooney’s previous record of 30, reaching 33 goals with his third penalty of the night.
The quadruple also marked his 50th to 53rd goal for Bayern in just 50 games.
Bayern took control early, with Raphael Guerreiro’s stunning half-volley and Michael Olise’s debut brace adding to Kane’s dominance.
Dinamo briefly fought back with two quick goals, but Bayern regained control as Kane scored from a rebound and added two more penalties.
Leroy Sane and Leon Goretzka added further goals, sealing the second-highest-scoring Champions League game in history.
Thomas Muller made his 152nd Champions League appearance, setting a record for the most appearances for a single club.
Kane’s nine goals in five games have been instrumental in Vincent Kompany’s side’s fantastic start to the season.
