Tecno Phantom X2 series: Everything we know so far

The Tecno series “ Phantom” dominates the phone market, especially in Africa. With its predecessor ranging from Phantom A to Phantom A plus and A2, the Phantom series also has been buoyant. The Tecno Phantom X2 series is set to be released alongside the pro version, Tecno Phantom X2 Pro; the release date is proposed to be on January 17, 2023.

The Tecno Phantom X2 Series

Although the Tecno Phantom X, which is the predecessor to the Tecno Phantom X2 series, has great features like super AMOLED, 90Hz, 6.7 inches, 110.2 cm2 (~91.3% screen-to-body ratio), MediaTek Helio G95 (12 nm) and the main camera with 50 MP, f/1.9, 13 MP, f/2.4, 8 MP, f/2.3 and others. The Tecno Phantom X2 and the Tecno Phantom X2 Pro are major upgrades from the Tecno Phantom X with many features, especially with a bigger display, MediaTek’s 4nm 9000 dimensity chipset, and a motorized retractable camera.

Tecno Phantom X2 Series Possible Release date

Tecno Mobile officially announced at its flagship launch on December 7, 2022, the availability and release date of both the TECNO Phantom X2 and TECNO Phantom X2 Pro, which are slated to be released in January 2023.

Considering that the Tecno Phantom X, which is the predecessor, cost about GHS. 1,512. However, the Tecno Phantom X2 Series is set to cost around 60% more, it is rumored to cost around about GHS 6,670.

Tecno Phantom X2 Series Possible models

According to the Tecno Mobile flagship launch. The lineup consists of two models: Tecno Phantom X2 and Tecno Phantom X2 Pro. These devices are the brand’s first true premium flagship smartphones.

The Tecno Phantom X2 and Tecno Phantom X2 Pro share almost all the specs. The phones only differ in terms of cameras.

Tecno Phantom X2 Series design rumors

The Tecno Phantom X2 and Tecno Phantom X2 Pro are rumored to boast a 6.8-inch curved AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling rate, and 20:9 aspect ratio. Also, the 10-bit panel can cover 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, has a centered punch-hole, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

They are said to be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset. In addition, the SoC is paired with a vapor chamber cooling system, LPDDR5x RAM, and UFS 3.1 storage. On the software front, they boot HiOS 12.0 based on Android 12.

Both smartphones offer multiple connectivity options, such as dual SIM, 5G, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.3, GNSS, NFC, and USB 2.0 (Type-C). Interestingly, they lack dual stereo speakers but come with an in-screen fingerprint sensor.

Tecno Phantom X2 Series Camera

Now, to the most crucial rumor about the Tecno Phantom X2 Series,  the Tecno Phantom X2 Pro is said to boast a 50MP Samsung JN1 retractable portrait camera with support for 2.5x zoom and an f/1.49 aperture lens. This camera is paired with a 50MP Samsung GNV primary camera and a 13MP Samsung 3L6 ultra-wide camera with support for macro vision. Also, all three cameras support auto-focus. 

While the Tecno Phantom X2 arrives with a 64MP Samsung GWB primary camera with OIS, the same 13MP ultrawide camera with support for macro vision from the pro model, and a 2MP depth sensor. However, both handsets feature a 32MP selfie camera.

Tecno Phantom X2 Series Battery

Tecno Phantom X2 and Tecno Phantom X2 Pro are said to get their energy from a 5,160mAh battery. In addition, they carry support for 45W fast wired charging.

Tecno Phantom X2 Series Storage and Color

The Tecno Phantom X2 is rumored to come with (8GB RAM + 256GB ROM), while Tecno Phantom X2 Pro (12GB RAM + 256GB ROM).

 The Tecno Phantom X2 is said to come in Stardust Grey and Moonlight Silver color options. The Pro variant can be available in Mars Orange (made of recycled plastic) and Stardust Grey.
