Ted Cruz Absolutely Obliterates Newly Committee-less Democrat Eric Swalwell Over ‘Bet’

Eric Swalwell, the Democrat most known for his connections to a Chinese spy, continued his illustrious career as Congress’s biggest dork Tuesday by challenging Ted Cruz to a wager on the upcoming 49ers-Cowboys playoff game and immediately received a digital ‘Swirly’ from the Texas senator.

It’s not uncommon for politicians to make friendly wagers backing local sports teams in the communities they represent. What is uncommon, however, is pretending Swalwell is an avid sports nut. This is, after all, a guy who broke both of his thumbs playing soccer.

That said, Swalwell is super-convinced the San Francisco 49ers will take down the Dallas Cowboys in Sunday’s NFC divisional playoff game. The 49ers are favored by 4 points, or in Swalwell’s world – two baskets.

Swalwell took to his Twitter account to issue a challenge to Cruz.

“If the @dallascowboys beat the @49ers I won’t tweet for the rest of January,” Swalwell wrote. “If the @49ers win you can’t tweet for rest of January. How Texan are you, Ted? Deal?”

Ted Cruz Fires Back After Swalwell Issues Bet

Nothing quite says ‘nerd alert’ like Swalwell challenging Ted Cruz to a football bet by offering up … checks notes … no Tweets for roughly one week.

So stunning. So brave. He really threw down the gauntlet there.

Cruz fired back with his own terms of the wager.

“How about we bet a Chinese dinner instead?” he quipped.

Cruz’s ‘Chinese dinner’ jab is an obvious reference to the controversy involving Eric Swalwell when it was discovered the congressman had ties to a woman by the name of Christine Fang (aka Fang Fang).

A bombshell report in 2020 indicated Fang “took part in fundraising activity for Rep. Swalwell’s 2014 re-election campaign” and interacted with the Congressman “at multiple events over the course of several years.”

Fang had allegedly served as a Chinese Intelligence operative with China’s Ministry of State Security.

There has been speculation that the relationship was sexual, something Swalwell has not specifically denied.

    Swalwell Mocked Relentlessly

Swalwell’s wager with Ted Cruz really brought out the best of social media, with numerous followers taking shot after shot at the California Democrat.

An account known as The Right to Bear Memes practically committed murder by posting an image of Swalwell promoting a fictitious ‘OnlyFangs’ account.

Other followers alternately called Cruz’s response “savage” and “brutal.”

Another individual pointed out that Swalwell “doesn’t have anything to do now in Congress” and seems bored.

Hmmm… Why would that be? What could have possibly reduced Eric Swalwell to badgering Ted Cruz over football because he has too much time on his hands?

Oh, that’s right. He got booted off the House Intelligence Committee by Speaker Kevin McCarthy for having questionable ties to a Chinese spy.

“Swalwell can’t get a security clearance in the private sector. I’m not going to give him a government security clearance,” McCarthy stated.

Eric responded by accusing McCarthy of taking such action out of ‘pure vengeance.’

Which, incidentally, is what Swalwell calls himself in the mirror every morning to try and get himself pumped up for the day’s activities.

This is the same fella that once likened himself and fellow Democrats to the Avengers.

We’re glad Swalwell has a little extra time on his thumbless hands to make football bets with Ted Cruz. It means he can do less damage in his role on the Intel Committee.

In closing, we leave you with this confrontation between our favorite viral comedian Alex Stein and the California lawmaker.

    Biggest. Dork. In Congress.
