The 24 District Chief Executives (DCEs) who were sacked by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo per letter dated February 2, are to be replaced by nominees whose names have been forwarded to the Minister for Local Government and Decentralization.
In a letter dated February 3, President Akufo-Addo said their nomination is in accordance with Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution.
“Pursuant to my letter of 2nd February 2024 and in accordance with Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution, I have made the following nominations to the office of Chief Executive of the following Municipal, Metropolitan and District Assemblies (MMDAs) pending their approval by their respective assemblies,” the President wrote.
Earlier, President Akufo-Addo terminated the appointment of twenty-four District Chief Executives (DCEs).

They include; the DCE for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Isaac Kwadwo Boabeng, and Adentan Daniel Alexander Nii-Noi Adumua.
The President revoked their appointment in accordance with Article 243 (3) b of the Constitution and Section 20 (3) b of the Local Government Act 2014 (Act 936).
“I respectfully request that you give immediate effect to my directive. I will, under a separate cover, write to you to nominate their replacement.”
